I wanted to honor Bob Barker. I felt a connection to him. We were both born in South Dakota. I also really appreciated his calm and steady presence in my life personally through his hosting of The Price is Right. I'm grateful for Bob Barker and thought a song should be written about him.
lyrics
Born in South Dakota
35 year show host of the Price is Right
Game show royalty going all night
Animal Rights champ ending every show
Spay and neuter message for population control
So important the next host
Kept it going - the show end sign post
Come on Down to Bob Barker
Come on Down Come on Down
Next contestant, Price is right!
Play the game, such a delight!
Come on Down to Bob Barker
Come on Down Come on Down
Guess the price, don't be uptight!
Over by $1, what a fright!
Nobody ever wrote a song about Bob (Why not?)
This is a shame he did such a good job
He deserved (he does!) some acclaim (it's true)
But he didn't seek that kind of fame
Parades, pageants, and bake offs he was on it (yea!)
18 years of Truth or Consequences
A host who even leads parades
Reliable in every way (Go Bob!)
Bob Barker
Come on Down to Bob Barker
Come on Down Come on Down
Next contestant Price is right
Play the game, such a delight!
Come on Down to Bob Barker
Come on Down Come on Down
Guess the price - don't be uptight!
Over by $1 - what a fright!
