This song is my abstract story about how I got so deeply into creating this music of mine. I imagine I'm not alone in the journeys I describe in the song, they should be familar to anyone who has tried to create something. It helps me remeber you just have to keep showing up to do the work to get to something good. This song gives me that energy.
lyrics
Don't want to take anything from anyone.
I will use privilege and try to make you listen.
My stories are unique but we are all the same.
Access you have shapes your end game.
What drives me to make all these sounds.
Match them up with words that are compound.
A need to get these ideas out.
Some kind of relief and primal shout.
I write down the story.
Craft the words, sprinkle in extra glory.
My memory of the event.
Is the only thing that's relevant.
I like to be the narrator.
Sharing the backstory we will want later.
I let these past ghosts flow.
I project a mental photo.
Looking for the valve to turn on the faucet.
Practice freestyle to open and unlock it.
I like to write out all my words.
Different techniques help you access the real verbs.
Looking for the valve to turn on the faucet.
Practice freestyle to open and unlock it.
Looking for the valve to turn on the faucet.
My words spill out and I put 'em in the pocket.
Some days feel empty and you lost it.
Freestyle forces clogs out of the faucet.
Even empty heads have to find.
One more word to make that rhyme.
You hopped on the freestyle train.
Next stop is the end of the lane.
Fear pushes you through the block.
The other side is a high status lock.
I don't really want to play.
I want to use the tools to exercise my sway.
Saying words one after another.
On a tightrope with a mission to discover.
Trying to piece together the map.
Use non word syllables to fill in the gap.
No choice to stop.
Go til the battle ends then you lock.
Looking for the valve to turn on the faucet.
Practice freestyle to open and unlock it.
I like to write out all my words.
Different techniques help you access the real verbs.
